A supportive and nurturing environment.

An experienced and caring team

We are a dedicated residential care provider for children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs, offering stability, compassion, and tailored support for up to six young people aged between 8 and 16 years old.

Our experienced and caring team works closely with young people, local authorities, families, and professionals to create individualised care plans that meet each child’s unique needs. Through consistent routines, positive relationships, and a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, we help children and young people develop the life skills they need to succeed now and in the future.

Our approach

Our approach is rooted in the principle that our children’s needs come first. We strive to create an environment where young people:

* Are actively involved in decisions affecting their lives

Children at the heart

At the heart of our home is a firm commitment to providing high-quality, nurturing care that is guided by our core values. We believe every young person deserves to feel special, safe and comfortable in a relaxed, homely environment that promotes emotional well-being and a sense of belonging.

Fresh Start is committed to making a meaningful difference, one child at a time.

Our Services

At Fresh Start Children’s Home,we believe every child and young person deserves a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where they can rebuild, grow, and thrive, regardless of the difficulties they have faced early in life. We offer both emergency and planned residential placements, supporting local authorities across the country to ensure children are placed in a safe and nurturing environment to support them.

Education and Learning Support

We’re committed to helping young people succeed in their education. Our team provides support with school visits, open days, and teacher meetings, and works closely with schools to encourage engagement and progress. We offer homework help, access to learning resources, and supervised use of computers and the internet. For those without a current school placement, we provide educational activities to keep learning on track. Transport to and from school is also arranged as needed.

Personal Development and Key Work

We support each young person’s growth through regular one-to-one key work sessions and group meetings that encourage their voice and active participation. Our team helps young people prepare for and attend statutory reviews and planning meetings, ensuring they feel heard and involved. We also supervise and facilitate safe, meaningful family time where appropriate.

Safeguarding and Risk Management

We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of every young person in our care. Our team provides increased supervision and personalised support to manage individual risks. We take immediate action if a young person goes missing or is at risk and we work closely with authorities, to ensure robust safeguarding measures are in place.

Partnership and Collaboration

We recognise that the best outcomes for young people are achieved through partnership working. We will collaborate closely with parents, carers, social workers, health and education professionals and other key professionals in young people’s networks, to ensure a joined-up and consistent approach to each child’s care.

Enrichment and Wellbeing Opportunities

We offer a variety of outings, trips, and fun activities to help young people enjoy new experiences and build confidence. Our children also have access to services that support emotional wellbeing and help develop important life skills for the future.

Transition to independence

Our care is underpinned by the belief that all children, regardless of their background or experiences are entitled to a happy, fulfilled life; one that is rich in love, support and opportunity. As they transition to adulthood, our young people will be encouraged and empowered to grow in confidence, independence and resilience; with a clear focus on safeguarding their health, development, welfare and protecting them from harm.
